Well the first thing they should do is step down from their current positions and retire now before they cause any more damage. How any of them can be trusted to continue to run these organisations is beyond comprehension. If a government minister made a terrible mistake and left thousands of people jobless they would be expected to resign. And they certainly wouldn't be voted back in. The same should apply to these men.

i can't say i know what should be done, but those 4 points you highlighted Huw actually had me chuckling out loud at my computer! They are insane!

"McKillop admitting he did not fully understand some of the complex financial instruments his bank was using" and "All four witnesses admitting that they did not have formal banking qualifications" especially. A close friend of mine who was laid off just before xmas has banking qualifications and is struggling to even find a job as a cashier! And here are these baboons with all this power, now admitting they didn't understand what they were doing... Stepping down is surely the only thing they can do. Provided their replaced with individuals who do have a clue. If the government need my friend's number i'll pass it on...

Apologies are clearly not enough in this case. Heads should be rolling.

Sir Fred Goodwin may not have received his bonus for 2008, but he still received his $1.46 million salary - this is utterly ridiculous.
